im gonna put some stuff in here - and once it gets big ill prolly split it off. i know i already have posts about this but fuck that --- be spontaneous and clean up later. when it comes to architectural decisions at least. for creative endeavours.

Monument Mythos

Firstly, go check it out . If you spoil yourself, still check it out. It's a big whole thing.

Okay so, let me just get my Bering Strait:

Okay so, bit of a disclaimer, I'd already seen S1 through S3 earlier. A long time ago, so I forgot the little details, but AAF knocked me away. It is basically a precursor of the whole entire series, but it is also very much its own thing. Basically, what if you had the mythos, but instead of being applied to monuments, it's applied to the time that America uh... did its whole genocide. Manifest Destiny - is a very diplomatic way of putting it. This one starts with Columbus by the way, and the first weirdest thing you hear of is the Ship Jester - which good luck with having to keep that in mind.

Also, Abraham Lincoln listens to music to access the sublime which lets his head fly everywhere.

That is technically a spoiler. But are you telling me you wouldn't want to check out the actual video to figure out how the fuck that makes any sense? And if it doesn't, well... I'd definitely want to check out the series at least.

Anyways I finished it, but if I'm completely honest I need to rewatch it again, because it's all somewhat of a blur to me. I loved it, but damn is it dense. Which leaves me with this - what next?

Well, according to the official playlist , I'm now at 57 of 75. 19 videos left. A ways to go, and what a path that lies ahead.

Deltarune

what the fuck is the weird route going to be. i've seen only fragments, never a video - only ever in thumbnails. i know of only two things:

  1. Some of the music, like one for Happy Town which actually does sound pretty happy when I forget the fact that it's a weird route only theme which very much fucks up the vibes I read from it from a joyful walk through town into- wait hold on no nevermind, 1:40 afterwards has a chilling breath sound thing loop in the background. Gee I wonder what the fuck THAT is doing there.
  2. Something happens at the lake. All I know is that Noelle is at the lake, Kris is a couple of steps away, and I think she gets in the lake? Which well, if I had to guess how that could go dark, well I mean it's pretty clear.

which you know seems like im spoiled, oh noelle tries to drown herself or something - but considering Happy Town is a theme and how Chapter 5's start is basically dependent on Noelle, the whole road from there to the lake is just... what the fuck? Not to mention that I've seen videos go upwards of 20 minutes. What the fuck happens in this route.

anyways that's a question for future me who's beaten the chapter. current me is still wondering a couple of things:

Ch. 5 is fucking awesome and anyone who's disappointed by it is a fuckin bigmac - as if we were gonna get something sad and miserable here. Have you not played Mother 3? Ch. 6 onward is where shit gets really dark ya dipshits. Ch. 5 is still just a straight up adventure.

Still extremely wild that Toby turned it into a platformer with bullet patterns. I mean what the actual fuck, what kind of GameMaker magic did he have to pull to make that work?

Music is also awesome and inspiring me to learn how to make my own. I got Bitwig so, maybe in a couple of years I'll be a master or something.

Umineko

So, we've finally reached the point where I'm actually interested in what comes next. Of course though that's not enough (hi Limbus Company), but considering the things that do keep me away are missing (hi gacha elements), I definitely want to continue it once I have some slots open.

I'm guessing that big reveal at the end is going to slowly (might not be that slowly) kill off the family and, presumably leave Battler alive since he's the main character in all those memes where BEATORIIIIICIIIII devastates him and he shits his pants or something.

Glad I powered through the starting bit but let's just say it took a couple months after my first time playing Umineko to return, because dear god the introduction is absolute torture. You know what wasn't torture? That little conflict between Krauss and his siblings where they pressure him significantly into a deal to avoid having fraudulent bits come to light - which suddenly pulls a complete goddamn reversal when Krauss just strips down every single one of his siblings for the fuck ups they've done.

Then there's the whole y'know. Maria thing which leads up to the first BIG punch to the face.

SO yeah I'm interested. At some point I might do more MICROs for that but there's also a LOT to cover for MICROs.

Experiment Microbyss

I feel like it's going well. My metrics for well are simply that I maintain a good daily output. And well, I've managed to do that, even if I got close sometimes. However, now I managed to build up a bit of a backlog, to the point where we're now multi-staging it, where we upload in batches, and prepare metadata/schedule in batches. The main benefit I've been getting from this one is that it actually works. I like it when I see a new micro-video of mine - enough to where I actively try to keep up the queue. And because of that, the editor stays open - and I have much less friction to working on other videos. I just need the motivation now, and honestly even pending non-micro videos, the micro videos are a good way of getting bigger videos out. And the queue makes it so where if I build it up far enough, the micro-compilation can come out before all the micro footage comes out - at which point, micro or not, it wouldn't even matter.

All in all though, I'm glad. There's now quite a lot of stuff I'm working on in parallel - fallout new vegas, limbus company, corru.observer, and yume nikki. I also have more umineko footage now, so that's there as well. Plus, the thumbnails are fun to work on. It basically turns Microbyssal into an art gallery of sorts.

I'll say it's a success - but not fully. I want to give it more time first. Started on 12 Jun, it's now 2 Aug as of writing this part, I'd like to make it to 3 months at least. Then a year and so on. Who knows, we might go >1 per day at some point.
